Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Chuchotage, a real-time translation platform for live events (the "Service"), operated by PRIVESC.EU WEB SRL ("we", "us", "our"), a Romanian company with registered office at 14 Alexandru Lapusneanu Street, Sector 1, Bucharest, postal code 012867, Romania, Tax ID 28132460, Trade Register J2011/002562407.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you are accepting on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation.

2. The service

Chuchotage provides real-time machine translation of a live speaker's audio into one or more target languages, delivered to attendees through a browser-based listener page (no app required). The Service includes event scheduling, payment, listener delivery, and (optionally) recording of the translated output.

3. Your account

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into binding contracts. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Notify us at support@chuchotage.me if you suspect unauthorised access.

4. Payment and renewal

Paid events are priced at €10 per hour, per target language (formula: €10 × hours × target languages), payable in advance at event creation through Stripe Checkout. All prices include VAT where applicable. Your card is securely saved by Stripe so subsequent events charge in one tap. Mid-event extensions (1-hour increments) are billed at the same per-hour-per-language rate.

Free demo events (15 minutes, up to two target languages, twice per calendar month) and the annual free full event (2 hours, up to two target languages) do not require payment.

5. Cancellation and refunds

A full refund is issued if you cancel a paid event before it has started. Once an event is live, no refund is issued. Refund requests go to support@chuchotage.me with the event identifier; approved refunds are returned to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service:

• for any unlawful purpose or in violation of Romanian or EU law;
• to transmit content that is defamatory, hateful, harassing, obscene, or infringing;
• to attempt to access another user's account or our internal systems;
• to interfere with the Service's operation (rate-bypass, scraping at volume, DoS, etc.);
• as the sole means of communication in any high-stakes context — see the accuracy disclaimer.

7. Your content

You retain all rights to the audio you stream through the Service. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that audio in real time solely for the purpose of providing the translation Service. Live audio is not persisted; recorded translations (if enabled by you) are stored only for the retention period stated in our Privacy Policy.

8. Our intellectual property

The Chuchotage name, brand, software, designs and underlying technology are our exclusive intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer or create derivative works based on the Service without our prior written consent.

9. Quotas and limits

Each event has practical limits on duration (1–12 hours), source language (1), target languages (up to 8), and concurrent listeners (currently uncapped under fair use). Free demo and free full-event allowances reset on the schedule stated in your account. We may update these limits with 14 days' notice.

10. Service availability

We aim for high uptime but do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or available at any specific time. Planned maintenance is communicated by email to registered users. We are not liable for downtime caused by sub-processors, force majeure, or your network.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these Terms, without prior notice or liability. On termination your right to use the Service ends; clauses that by their nature survive termination (payment obligations, intellectual property, limitation of liability) do survive.

12. Disclaimers

The Service relies on automated machine translation. As described in our accuracy disclaimer, machine translation is provided as is and is not a substitute for qualified human interpreters in legal, medical, emergency or any other high-stakes context. By creating an event you accept this limitation.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither PRIVESC.EU WEB SRL nor its officers, employees or contractors shall be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of revenue, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the total amount you have paid us in the six months preceding the claim.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against any claim, loss, damage or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, the audio you transmit, or your breach of these Terms — except to the extent caused by our negligence or wilful misconduct.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes are notified to registered users by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The current version is always available at chuchotage.me/legal/terms.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania. The courts of Bucharest, Romania, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
